It's back to school – but we're still collecting supplies to equip
the kids at Rochester School #3. Paper, pencils, pens, folders,
notebooks, markers, glue, backpacks and in-class art supplies are all
tremendously helpful in making sure our kids are prepared for classroom
participation. New or gently used pleasure reading books are always
appreciated.
Bring your donations to Hadassah meetings,
book clubs, gatherings, to me - or call for a pickup. The students and
teachers are so grateful for all your gifts.

YOUTH ALIYAH/CHILDREN AT RISK UPDATE
Hadassah women's
involvement extends from renovating old buildings and laying the
cornerstones for new ones to raising funds for projects such as a state-of-the-art music center, a swimming pool, and subsidizing school trips. Hadassah women's donations enabled seniors from Meir Shfeyah and Hadassah Neurim to join an Education Ministry delegation to Poland in February, when the students visited Auschwitz and other sights. The subsidies not only covered travel expenses, but also warm coats and snow boots for those who could not afford them. Hadassah women also helped set up programs that encourage graduates from these youth villages to stay connected. There are post-graduation meet-ups, and lone soldiers on leave are able to return to their former schools to do laundry, watch television, enjoy a good meal, a bed and some love from the staff.
We can help these students in our Youth Aliyah Villages by
purchasing Youth Aliyah Certificates that are good for any occasion.
Small Certificates are $5 and up plus postage. Large
Certificates are $15 and up plus postage. Contact Marlene Elkin
271-1871.
THE
HADASSAH/JCC SHED
Remember the JCC/Hadassah Shed is in the back of the JCC parking lot. Hadassah and the JCC get paid by the pound for textile donations, which are then directed to those in need in the US and around the world. Please - only clothing, shoes, purses, linens, towels in tied plastic bags. No household items (non-textile), toys, pillows.
Thank you for
your help and donations.

THE BRANCH - REAL STORIES ABOUT BUILDING CONNECTIONS BETWEEN JEWS & ARABS
The Branch offers a glimpse into the everyday lives
of Jews and Arabs in Israel forging meaningful relationships. Presented
by Hadassah and hosted by Dina Kraft, The Branch shines a light on the
stories of people living the example of a shared society, together, even
though it’s complicated.
Hadassah believes in the power of women for Israel, and that positive
stories from Israel can make a powerful impact. Today the Hadassah
Medical Organization (HMO) serves 1 million patients a year, regardless
of race, religion, or nationality, HMO doctors, nurses and staff work
together, Arab and Jewish, building bridges to peace through medicine.
HMO is the only medical organization to have been nominated for a Nobel
Peace Prize.
Due to higher security issues with spam, large
files, and mass emails, some email addresses are not receiving our Hadassah
e-bulletins and e-blasts. Bulletins are sent around the first of each month,
e-blasts prior to programs. If you are not receiving our Rochester Hadassah
emails, please let us know. What started as just AOL issues may now happen with
other servers. And unfortunately we do not always know who is not getting the
emails. Please share this info with others (especially AOL users). Write to:rochester@hadassah.org
