Our next gathering of The Night Club book group is March 1 in the Plymouth Library, 15700 36th Avenue N. We’ll be in the small meeting room along the far-right wall when you enter the Library. The book we will discuss is Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah. In April, we will meet on April 10 instead of April 5; we will discuss The Book of Aron by Jim Shepard. The Library is not available, so we will be meeting at Lunds and Byerlys, upstairs in their Community room, 3455 Vicksburg Lane N., Plymouth. Please bring any friends or family members who are interested in joining a book club. We are always open to new members. If you have any questions contact Shelly Levine at shellyilevine@gmail.com.
The next gathering of the Afternoon Book
Group is at 12:30 p.m. on March 21 at the Plymouth Library: 15700 36th Avenue N., Plymouth. We will be in the small meeting room along the far-right wall. The Henrietta Szold afternoon book group is a wonderful group of women (and a few men) many of whom live at Knollwood Place though some of us come from Minneapolis as well as Plymouth, Golden Valley, etc., so all are welcome. We meet the 4th Wednesday of every month at Knollwood Place in the board room, at 2:00 p.m. The book for March 28 is The Homegoing: A Novel by Yaa Gyasi, about two Ghanaian half-sisters, one marrying well in Africa, the other sold into slavery. Please join us. Questions: call Debby
Wolk at 612-925-7932 or at debhadassah@gmail.com.
Cultural Clique
The Cultural clique will be meeting March 18 at 10:00 A.M. at the home of Barbara Parks, 23645 Archer Lane N. to discuss the play The Pickle. Please RSVP to Barb at hadassahbawbie@yahoo.com or at 763-546-2474 if you plan on attending. Doris Rubinstein, whom the play is about, will again be able to join us. Although it is not an official Cultural Clique event, we are encouraging people to see Indecent at the Guthrie, which is playing through March 24. For any questions contact Sarene Silver at sarenesilver@comcast.net.
Where do your Fundraising Dollars Go?
Many (not all) of Hadassah Minneapolis' activities raise money that we send to National Hadassah. In turn, National sends money to Hadassah Medical Organization to help support its life-saving research. Heart health is a research program that's of vital importance to women. Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the U.S. and worldwide. Women are 10 times more likely to die of heart disease than breast cancer. HMO is pursuing heart attack prevention and healing from several angles. Hadassah also offers members tools and resources to help everyone live healthy lives. Heart health research is just one area that relies on our fundraising dollars. When you donate to Hadassah, you're helping save lives. Our spring fundraising campaign will begin shortly. Please be generous. Lives depend on you! For more information about Hadassah Minneapolis' fundraising opportunities, contact vice presidents Stacey Bush at staceybush@gmail.com or Linda Ward at ward4858@yahoo.com.
Ronald McDonald House Is Looking for Your Help
Hadassah has been serving meals every Thursday at the Ronald
McDonald House on the University of Minnesota campus (east bank) for 30 some
years. We’ve had captains and teams preparing, warming and serving up to 100 people--patients
and their families, all this time quietly fulfilling a Hadassah mission of
helping to heal and support the sick here at “home.” We have lost several teams for various
reasons and need more teams so we are reaching out to you and asking you to
step up, pitch in, and have fun at the same time. Tasks include cooking on site or providing
cooked food that is purchased from a professional resource such as Costco,
Sam’s Club, Cub, etc., delivering the meal to the House and providing servers
to dish up, clean up, and smile with good cheer and well wishes to family,
staff, and most of all the patients undergoing treatment in nearby University
hospitals. Talk to one of our captains, Terry
Hallfin at 763-588-5597 or email her at terrybmn@visi.com
to find out how you can be a part of this worthwhile endeavor. Ronald is waiting to hear from you. Don’t think about it -- just give it a try!
Donate for a Beautiful Reward
“There is no ending that is not a beginning.” This quote
from Hadassah’s founder, Henrietta Szold, is inscribed on a lovely sterling
silver necklace edged with cubic zirconias that you can receive with a minimum
donation of $150*. You’ll help support groundbreaking medical research at
Hadassah Medical Organization while you recognize the milestones of a special
woman in your life. Research at HMO is the beginning to a promising end. You
can be part of this goal! Please contact Fundraising vice presidents Stacey Bush (staceyrbush@gmail.com) or Linda Ward (ward4858@yahoo.com) for more
information. (*The necklace has a fair market value of $50. All but the fair
market value of the asterisked item noted above is deductible to the extent
provided by law.)

Craft Co-Op
We have been busy sewing, knitting, crocheting!! You name it, we've done it! Our latest additions of gorgeous needlepoint pillows and framed pictures with Asian inspired canvases are truly beautiful to behold. Donated by one of our loyal members whose needlework is outstanding, they would be welcome additions to your décor. We have new aprons for adults and children featuring bagels and cookies, wild flowers, and alphabets. There is something for everyone you love. With Passover just around the corner, you might want a private showing of our Judaica inventory featuring Matzoh covers, pillow shams for the seder table, as well as challah covers for the extra matzah on the table and to use later on Shabbat and holidays. And don't forget wedding invitations soon to arrive when the snow melts. We'll be showing our wares again in late April, but you can always call Debby Wolk, 612-925-7932, or Sara Bernstein, 612-824-2685, for a private showing.
