Dear Hadassah Sisters,
In March we observe Purim, a holiday we approach with anticipation of celebration. In many ways listening to the Purim Megillah (the Book of Esther) helps us embrace the complexities of the Jewish people. Mordechai and Esther, whose Hebrew name is Hadassah, nearly lost their own lives, but yet they worked collaboratively and creatively to save the Persian Jews. It is a Jewish value to recognize challenges, work together to solve the problems and, in the end, celebrate victories and share the joy. Hadassah sends gifts of resources, tools and education to our youth in Youth Aliyah Villages. Hadassah celebrates all of these accomplishments, including HMO’s breakthroughs and miracles as well as giving to those in need and just as Esther was a leader amongst her people in Persia, taking risks and creating change, Hadassah builds leaders, promotes social advocacy to bring about change and demonstrate support for the health and well being of all peoples. The Violins of Hope feature over 70 violins, violas, and cellos, that have been collected and restored since the end of the Holocaust by Amnon and Avshalom Weinstein, a father and son team of violin makers, based in Israel.
The instruments belonged to Jewish musicians before and during the Holocaust. These instruments represent the resistance, hope, resilience, and memory of the musicians who played these instruments.

MY LOVE AFFAIR WITH HADASSAH
By: Fran Sachs
I confess! I have been having an affair of the heart and soul for the past 57 years, in public no less. With whom, you ask? Why, Hadassah of course!
How does one feel the joy of purpose and connection with an organization that for 112 years has brought our brethren in Israel life saving health care and continues to do medical research that benefits all humanity?
The answer, of course is via PLANNED GIVING. Your gift, certain sums of money monthly, yearly, or in your will enables Hadassah to budget for necessary mundane services, eg. lights, air conditioning, purchase of medical supplies, bandaids, etc. These monies permit Hadassah to do what it does best without worrying about the upkeep costs of running two hospitals, youth villages etc. Hadassah can then provide the finest, most up to date medical care and continue to do research which will benefit all mankind. CHAPTER HAPPENINGS
We were delighted to host our Rosh Chodesh gathering in honor of heart health month (everyone wore red) and Tu B’Shevat. The program was coordinated by two of our members and attendees were from Tikvah, Kavanah and Zipporah chapters. Everyone enjoyed heart healthy snacks which included fruits and nuts specific to the holiday. We shared info about maintaining heart health and how to find updates on Hadassah.org.

A Note From The Finance Department
As a result of the increased volume of checks to National and the Geo Areas due to the crisis campaign combined with year-end activity, as well as the continued fine tuning of the Salesforce automation, we are still processing 2023 gifts. Therefore, the summary tax letters might not yet reflect all 2023 contributions. We plan to finish getting through the backlog in the next few weeks.
