Dear Friends, October has come to a close following two successful Region events. Our long-awaited Breast Cancer Symposium for Men & Women brought together knowledgeable and informative specialists in the field of cancer treatment, along with our past National President, Nancy Falchuck. Those who were in attendance will agree that this was an afternoon well spent. Several chapters followed this event with a Chapter led, Region-wide Walk for Breast Cancer (see photos in the newsletter). Our hope is that more Chapters will choose to participate in next year’s walk. The month of November will offer much to celebrate. On Thursday, November 24, the entire country observes Thanksgiving, a holiday that boasts the best of food! And, in a more introspective sense, a holiday that ask us to reflect on what we are grateful for even in the face of adversity. Hadassah’s work from its inception has been motivated in response to the profound adversity faced by the early settlers of pre-state Israel. Today Hadassah’s mission is still tikkun olam, our belief that we can bring healing to our world through medicine and advocacy.

Hadassah Boynton Office Appointments Update
Hadassah’s Boynton Beach office is once again open to volunteers on a limited basis. If you need to visit the office, contact FloridaRequests@hadassah.org or call 561-498-1012 and leave a voicemail with your name, chapter and email address. You will be provided with a link to upload your COVID vaccination and booster documents. Per Hadassah National's office protocols, all visitors must be vaccinated and boosted. You will only need to upload your documents once. Post-Covid, our staff works on a hybrid schedule. We are in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. All visitors must have an appointment to enter the office.
Because the CDC currently categorizes Palm Beach County’s community COVID rate as “high”, Hadassah requires that masks be worn in the Boynton Beach office.
Hadassah will be returning to in-person events and gatherings!
If your Hadassah chapter will be returning to in person events, local units are required to follow state and local laws and regulations, the current CDC guidelines and recommendations as well as the following Hadassah protocols in order to conduct activities in the safest and healthiest manner possible. Please note: applicable Florida law states that businesses operating in Florida may not require patrons/customers to provide any documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccination or post-infection recovery to gain access to or receive services from the business. These protocols have been mailed to chapter leadership. If you would like a copy of the protocols or have questions about implementing them, email floridarequests@hadassah.org.

At a time when conversations about Zionism are more complicated — and imperative — than ever, Hadassah is pleased to announce the appointment of our new Zionist Scholar-in-Residence, Michelle Rojas-Tal. The Tel Aviv Institute recently named Rojas-Tal to "The Jewish 100" list for 2021-2022, a list of the 100 most influential activists, educators and leaders. She will assist Hadassah on both a local and national level in integrating Zionist ideas and themes into programming and events. Read more here and hear directly from Michelle at the upcoming program described below.
Listen, watch, share: New podcast episode of Hadassah On Call: Kids, Cancer & Genes. Veteran American-Israeli journalist, host and third-generation Hadassah member Maayan Hoffman breaks down the symptoms, causes and latest treatments related to childhood cancers with Dr. Gal Goldstein, head of the Pediatric Oncology and Hemato-Oncology Department at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem. You can also watch the episode in video form!
Take an active role in democracy: With Election Day fast approaching on November 8, you should know that there is more than one way to participate in our democracy. While voting in this upcoming election is essential, Hadassah also encourages you to take that extra step and become an election worker. Read to hear from Hadassah members who are contributing to safe, fair and free elections, and learn about how you can join them.
Join the fight to protect reproductive health: In the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and without federal protections for choice, Hadassah’s work at the state level is more important than ever. Hadassah encourages you to join the Jewish Community Phone Bank and fight to protect the reproductive rights of the people of Michigan and Kentucky.
